Create and manage templates
Who it is for: whoever manages the account
WhatsApp templates are pre-approved messages used to start conversations or send notifications.
Create a template

Step:Go to Templates in the menu and tap New Template.

Step:Fill in name, language (Spanish, English or Portuguese), content type and category (Utility or Marketing).
➡️
Step:Write the message text. Optionally add a header and a footer.
➡️
Step:Add the buttons that fit the chosen type.
The header can be bold text or media: image, video or document.
Variables
Use named variables between double braces: {{nombre}}, {{fecha}}, {{monto}}. When the template is sent they are replaced with real values.
Text formatting
The editor supports WhatsApp formatting:
- \bold\: bold
- \_italic\_: _italic_
- \~strikethrough\~: ~strikethrough~
- \
\\monospace\\\: monospace
Button types
- Quick reply (max 3): the user taps to answer.
- Call to action (max 2): link or phone number.
- Interactive list (max 10): dropdown menu.
- Card: image, title, text and buttons.
Approval process
- You create the template as a draft.
- You tap Submit for approval.
- TalkAI sends it to Meta for review and the status becomes Pending.
- If approved, it becomes Approved and you can use it.
- If rejected, you edit it and submit it again.
ℹ️
Note:The status updates in real time. Meta can also recategorize your template (for example from Utility to Marketing) based on its content; you will see it reflected in the category.
Common mistakes
- Rejected by Meta: check that it does not look like spam and that variables have context.
- Media header without a file: Meta needs a sample of the file to approve it.
